We all really need to know how to locate and use all our gear by touch. Well except for firearms, then you at least need a spotter you can trust- George
Just a side note when stealth camping. A little recon work ahead of time make it easier to find two good trees in the dark but it also helps find the bad ones. Also helps in finding those pesky falling dead branches. A little prep work can go a long way sometimes.
Mercop, I enjoyed reading your experience. Sounds like you where a very well off vagabond for 3 days.
Yosemite Sam: Are you trying to make me look a fool?
Bugs: You don't need me to make you look like a fool.
Yosemite Sam: Yer deerrrnnn right I don't!
I do my best to keep comfortable. I was in some heavy Pines and had a pretty good view up to check for widow makers. Hell of a way to wake up dead- George
There's a wooded area of unsold property near the area where Weasel and I live. We walked over there today after Thanksgiving dinner to do a quick test hang and check out our suspension on our HH's after installing whoopie slings.
We were there a couple of minutes...long enough to hang both hammocks and test them out...when a couple of police cars pulled up across the street.
Didn't find out if they were there to deal with us, or with something in the apartment complex...we broke down and rolled out before anyone could get upset.
We weren't there for a stealth hang...but I'm seriously considering it when we get our first snowfall this year.
