Planning Western NY hang - ALL welcome

Of course, this just means that we're planning on holding it in Western NY, but ALL are welcome.

One place mentioned to have it was Sprague Brook park in Erie County. Personally, I would prefer to do it in one of the state forests. The list of available SFs is quite long and diverse. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/56001.html

Suggestions for locations and when to do this are greatly appreciated.

How far east is the possible location? I will go wherever, as I am often in the Adirondacks. The reason I ask is that I know a super spot in the Italy Hill State Forest. My friends and I call it "the secret spot" as it appears no one else uses it.

I have always saw the Finger Lakes as being Central NY, BUT it is beautiful country and I am certainly not opposed to traveling a little further for some fantastic scenery and good times. I would suggest that anything in Region 8 or 9 is Western NY. Anyone disagree with that?

Ellis, Thanks for moving this thread over. I thought of Sprague Brook Park, south of Buffalo. Here is the link.

The finger lakes trail, I think, was mentioned - it extends from Alleghany State Park to The Catskills downstate. There is some great hiking and open camping on this trail - I was thinking perhaps hiking into somewhere in WNY, such as Rock City or somewhere in that area, perhaps going north.

When are you guys planning on having this hang? I am a 2 hour drive from the Buffalo/Fort Erie border. If you make it the state park you mentioned, this could be an international hang as some of the Ontario Hangers might come in if it is a 2 night event.

Also seeing a ton of lake effect snow would be a bonus too if it was after Christmas.

    Cheers

Wow and international hang...I don't know what to wear.

No date yet, Brian as we're still working on where. Seeing a "ton of lake effect snow" is never a bonus.
