I see that you prepared a hot lunch but I was disappointed not to get a gear report on the new DIY spoon.

for me at my ripening age I always have to remember my fingers...in serious cold feet are simply quiet while fingers(tips) will scream at me. So liner gloves to pull out of mittens for detail work, mitts for warmth better than insulated gloves....and there's nothing wrong with the little heat packs from chinamart.
Right too on the amount of daylight.....is that the Earth's fault or Ben Franklins?

Ooops. I was surprised at the response to that spoon ,, and it continues. I have been using the spoon for the last few hikes and its been great. Perfect length for gettin into the freezer bag,,really liking it although the wood may turn out to be too fibrous as hairs keep raising in the bowl that i sand off and re oil. We'll see. I have a few others on the way. Thanks for asking.

I carry two of the heat packs with me just in case. Last year i got my hands cold and it took a surprising amount of time to warm them up and i was miserable till they did.The detail gloves i did have yesterday are falling apart and i need new one's. My good gloves are by my pack ready for the next hike as is my ccf as i really like to lay back in the snow or at least against my pack. Yes ,,,i'm ripening as well
