EGL 2011 Year End Soiree Trip Report

As planned, the Eastern Great Lakes gang got out to Rattlesnake Conservation Area (Ontario, Canada) for one more night before the end 2011, I’d like to thank everyone for coming out! For me, the “Soiree” was a night to remember, the food was awesome (as always) and the weather couldn’t have been better for sitting around a campfire with friends and family. I hope everyone found it as enjoyable as I did and I look forward to our first trip in 2012!

There ya go.... That was a great way to wrap up what seemed like a really busy year of work and hangs... Winter, Spring, Fall and Late fall... Thanks for the pics [o]TTer.

It was also really great to see some of the guys who are fast becoming "old firends" and get the chance to meet a couple of new ones....

Also, true to form, it rained in the morning, making breaking camp pretty soggy. You know, given our track record, I'm absolutely confident my rig can withstand torrential downpours, blizzards, freezing rain and hail. I've just never had a chance to test it's resistance to bright sunlight, blue skies and warm weather. Knowing my luck, it'd probably disintegrate like it was made of tissue paper....

Good times had by all. The only thing we were missing were some good sub-zero temperatures to test out the new winter rigs. Overall likely the nicest November the 26th I can remember.

Looks like a good time had by all. Brian's winter rig looks amazing!

If ever there's an Ontario hang with warm weather and bright blue skies, Chard will probably don pants and a jacket.

Thanks for the compliment, bcaron. I really do love the Canvas Condo with the wood furnace ([o]TTeR named it and I like it). It is certainly amazing how that pot stove pumps out the heat and quickly raises the temperature in there. I was fortunate to just finish packing up the Canvas Condo just as the rain started to fall.

This was another great hang with the best weather I can remember for the last weekend of November. I certainly won't complain. There were a few visitors to our Soiree, somehow we just need to get them to bring their gear and stay the night. However on my next outing I definitely want to see the fluffy white stuff on the ground and some below zero temperatures.

The Winter 2012 hanging season is a mere 35 days away.

    Cheers

    Brian
