    DIY question sharp things??

A quick question I’m just about to start some DIY projects for xmas.

Sewing loops into 1inch webbing for hammock suspension, working with 1.1 and 1.6 ripstop nylon. What sewing machine need/needs do I need to do this kind of work

Any good sewing machine will work and I think that people use between a 9-14 needle, as long as they are sharp.

I just finished my first diy hammock and tree straps and I used the $80 Singer Machine from Walmart and the stock needle it came with which I believe is a 9/14 needle.

I have no idea what your sewing experience is but it should be mentioned that stitch length and tension are also important. I used a length of 2 and tension on the little mark between the 2 and 3. I have no idea if that's right or if I should have set it up differently than that I just go by feel more than hard and fast numbers. If the fabric is bunching up or if the bobbin thread keeps getting tangled, either the stitch length or the tension that are gonna probably be your culprits. If you're not sure, practice first on scraps.

    Best of luck!

You might want to check out the links in my sig. Other folks have found them helpful for getting into the DIY world from ground zero. Based n the way you formed your question I suspect this is brand new to you. Don't forget the learning curve can be rather steep. But with that in mind... have fun.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

I highly recommend Ramblinrev's video series. Great info there for the beginner and excellent tips for those with experience as well!
