I have to say I am impressed with PISGAH. I can't figure out why I have taken this long to explore it. Riverside camping over soft ground with minimal brush between trees, Beautiful trails! with that wonderful "I can see for miles" you get in winter forests when the leaves are down. Dry weather in the 50's down to low 30's (with a temp of 65 last time I checked under the tarp about 12-15 feet from the edge of the campfire thanks to my good friends with big saws and lots of energy.

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

yeah, "somebody" early last winter along the AT learned those 3 simple words would crank up a perpetual motion machine that wouldn't stop until hitting the trail the next morning.

i don't care how much extra weight i have to pack in, or how many miles i have to carry it.
a pulaski is worth every once, and balances out the pack very nicely with the saw i carry on the opposite side.

A pulaski doesn't weigh as much as a chain saw, does it!!????

A great weekend for sure. Thank you to everyone for making it a wonderful end of year hang.
Now I'm looking at how to get out in January!

Do you mind telling me where this site was? Was that the parking lot I saw in the background or did you have to hike in a ways?

And whither then? I cannot say."
