srl is good to set the sag, and hang stuff from.

but i dislike them, i feel they cause tension ridges down the center of the hammock. i could be mistifying it-- but thats my opinion

i use mine to get the sag i like in relation to the suspension angles - then loosen the ridgeline or detach it.

    bad form?

I actually started with the single ridge line. Then I decided that I didn't want one, so I made a couple utility constrictor ropes. I like the UCR's, and don't miss the ridge line. However, I may end up making a simple ridge line to attach or detach as I please. To each their own!

You'll fit right in with or without a SRL. We all have our preferences. That's what make HF so great.

There is another way to achieve SRL nirvana without that clothesline feeling.

Move it up the suspension a bit. I've got mine high enough that I can barely reach it when lying down. You will have to recalculate the length based on your extended hammock length.

I didnt think Inwould like it either and I went a long time without one. Once I put it up and realized that I could get more sag and a more comfortable lay... it didnt seem to be in the way anymore, not that it ever was.

Please tell me I can still belong to Hammock Forums if I don't like SRLs.

    Please?

Well you can always just use it during the set up and remove it before you lay down in it.

All are welcome at HF. Even those people who use... (eh hem) tents.
