Hey and welcome to HF fromWinnipeg
This is your one stop shop for all Hammock knowledge
Greetings and welcome from Oshawa, ON. As Chard and Bubba have pointed out, the Ontario Hangers or Eastern Great Lakes Hangers, depending on what you want to call us are just getting ready for winter camping season.
We'll probably be having a preliminary winter hang early in January at a Conservation Area not far from where you live. So come on out and check out the gear and how we do things hammock wise.
Cheers
Brian
Welcome to HF from Mass.
Welcome to the forums! Wet weather was a factor in getting me up off the ground, as well. I'm liking my chances of staying dry above the ground a lot better than my chances were on the ground.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
Welcome from Florida!
Hi
Just posted on the Claytor section, posing a lot of questions. I have not used a hammock, other than sleeping in my backyard, having done a lot of tenting over my years. I turned to looking at a hammock as I have taken up bicycle touring, and am looking at 'stealth camping' --on crown land, when caught between towns in Northern Ontario. The hammock appeals because there are no poles, and because you are off the ground, a level surface is not important.
I am really torn between the Hennessy and the Claytor --see my thread. In in any event I will get a hammock in the next while, and I look forward to hearing more about group hangs in Ontario --though I live in Quebec I am jus across the river from Ottawa. For years I belonged to the Ottawa Canoe Camping Club, and really enjoyed group paddles, though that was at least ten years ago since I last belonged. But the idea of getting together with folk who like the outdoors and camp has an appeal.
So that is it for post #2...

Everyone must believe in something. I believe I'll go canoeing
Thanks, everyone.
I've been slowly working on my wife, trying to convince her to camp again. I'm thinking that I'll set the hammock up beside the pool next summer. That'll be the first step. Baby steps...
