I've practiced rigging my tarp as a tent, using my hiking poles to support the ends. When I know there is a possibility of having to go to ground, I'll carry my Z-Lite pad for putting down. I'll have both an UQ and a TQ for warmth.
I keep moving. I schedule hikes in areas where trees are abundant (mainly on the AT).

Shug during the night would you snuggle with your hammock?

Knowing beforehand or just unlucky as I've been in places where it was not possible to hang a hammock.

My ground (sit) pad would double as a sleep pad.
I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
I use Linux.
I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!
Rug.
Hang On!
i use my army 'all-in-one' hammock and just hold the attached tarp/mossy net up with my trekking poles.....
Could you describe why you couldn't hang your hammock?
As long as there were trees, I'm having a hard time picturing why you couldn't hang.
Thanks. It will help me prepare for Plan B.
Peace,
David
