    Greetings from Northern Wisconsin

    Hello, folks!

Northern Wisconsin checking in here... in the process of converting to the hammock religion... my brother has had an ENO something-or-other for a while that I was admiring last year when we hiked Isle Royale end to end... hammock looked pretty comfy some of those nights... found the forums on Google and have read much, watched that Suge fella's noob videos, etc...

So, I'm thinking I'm going start cheap w/ a GTUL, figure out how to DIY some whoopie slings, a tarp, and a bug net together... probably some snake skins - and if it goes the way most of my construction projects go, I'm sure that along the way I'll come up with a few modifications and such, half of which will actually work and half of which will be dismal failures, but all in good fun...

    So, here we go!

Welcome to the addiction Alex, glad to have you.

Fyi there are some good sales going on with Grand Trunk right now, on theclymbe.com they're %50 off and I'm sure you'll find some other good deals through amazon as well (someone mentioned 10 off orders over 30).. GT's Double is about exactly what an ENO double is and it's a loved hammock by many on here. my GTUL got me by, but I had my first great night in a nice big eno double. food for thought.

Anyhow, welcome aboard, feel free to ask questoins and I'm really looking forward to some reviews of the gear you plan on making. welcome.

afterthought, since you seem pretty astute at DIY.. a hammock is about the easiest project to start with, could prolly get materials for 15.00 or so. Joannes 1.9 ripstop would work well and feels better than the GTUL material IMO.
