It looks like a gathered or cinched end to me, with spreader bars.
interesting find! The key thing that would make this a "bridge hammock" is if the width of the netting at the middle is less than the width at the head and foot. The tell-tale sign of that is when the hammock is hanging empty the middle is raised up higher than the ends. There may be hint of that in the photos, but I'm not convinced of it.
Should not be hard to engineer a netting hammock that way though, I bet you could take one of the el-cheapo net hammocks from Walmart and turn it into a netted bridge.
At 27.5" wide it is slightly narrower than the JRB BMBH.
