So I'm in the market for a new hammock. I'm thru-hiking the A.T. starting mid-march of next year. I'm considering a warbonnet blackbird but I can't decide which one to get. I want lightweight, but I will be sleeping on a thermarest inflatable pad. I've narrowed it down to the 1.1 oz fabric, so basically i'm deciding between the single or double layer. Does the double layer make all that much difference? When I slept in my old hennessey hammock with a sleeping pad (and ccf foam ad across the shoulders) I really didn't have many problems falling off my sleeping pad. I guess my question is this: Does the double layer make the hammock warmer or is it just convenient to put your sleeping pad in the lower layer. I know its only a 3oz difference, but every ounce counts.
