    The hills of Kahuku,HI

Hi everyone. Spent 4 days in the hills of Kahuku's doing field training for the Army. Got to play op-for so it was a little laid back. I took my hammock and slept in the tree line. This was also my first hang outside of the back yard. I don't have a tarp as of yet so i improvised with 2 poncho's. It took a little fiddling with and couple of redo's but i got it to my liking. The only trees I could find that didn't have a 20ft drop off under it were almost too small. The combination of 20mph wind and flexing trees made for some really nice sleeping. Since we were only about 8 miles from the ocean it rained off and on thru out the night but i never got wet nor did any of my gear. I set my ruck on 2 small logs so if it did come a down pour, the water would run under it. I love sleeping in the hammock and everyone else was jealous I plan on doing more hiking and hanging in Hawaii while I'm stationed here!

Tex: Well I think its important to enjoy what you do.

I like the way you got those ponchos to work together. Very nice rig-up there.

It looks mighty pretty out that way. Thanks for sharing!

I am jealous, I would love to be back there. I was there from 2000-2002, and I sure do miss it. Now I won't get any work done this afternoon, just thinking about Hawaii and hanging...
