ok.. I dont get it. When I said seam sil I ment like when I got my tent I seam sealed the entire floor of it. So would I seal the entire tarp? I dont see what sealing the outter 1/4 edge of the tarp would be good for?

Nope you would not seal the entire tarp!! It's made with "basicly" waterproof material that's already sealed. You do need to seal the seams where it's sewn together. Usually that's the ridgeline. I don't bother with the outer edges, some do though. Make sure you follow a previous posters directions on what to use.

I lived in WA State for 20 years and had my 4 season tent in every kind of imagineable weather. I seam sealed every darn tootin' thread hole there was.

I later took to building "root cellars"
some better known as UG (underground) bunkers.
