“Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it." -Terry Pratchett
You could take a 2-3 ft. clear (no knots) 2x6 and install an eye bolt in the middle of the board. You'll have to drill a clearance hole for the nut on the end of the bolt. Find your studs. Figure out where you'll hang the board and use a small finish nail and make sure you've located the exact center of the stud, this is important. Get some four inch long deck screws (don't use drywall screws, they are brittle and will snap) and drive three screws in each end of the 2x6 into the CENTER of each stud. These studs won't make huge holes in your wallboard. If you know how to do simple drywall repair (if you have to remove it), just using lag thread screw eyes will work fine. Just make sure your pilot hole is the right size, that is, no larger than the shank of the threaded portion. If you drill to large of a hole, it might pull out.
I hang in my workshop, because it is the only clean way to get some kip. I use big eye-bolts and have a selection of hanging points.
The tarp is a bit of overkill, but I do have sprinklers!
sleeping in a mayan hammock for about 3-4 years now i think,
backs never felt better honestly
just used 2 eyebolt lags into the walls, kinda caddy corner..hangs away in corner when not in use..the disappearing bed lol
I live in Croatia. I use hammocks on trees all the time. Would like to mount them now in the courtyard of my old stone house. How would you suggest safe mounting into heavy limestone blocks that make up the wall? A number of us live or visit here and some are 160 lbs or so.
thanks,
Jill
There are a variety of concrete/masonry anchors available, all require that you drill a hole first. You are going to need a hammer drill. Limestone is very soft, so it won't be very hard if you have a good bit. The best anchors I have ever used are made by Hilti. I don't know if that brand is available in your country, but it probably is. The type you want is the expanding bolt type. I hope that this helps.
I used tapcons for a poured concrete wall to hand my hammock. If I were doing itin stone I would be worried that peticular sone could come loose with time. It seems to me if you pulled a stoned out it would be a very bad thing. Very bad.
