    Hennessy Hammock question

Ok so I got my HH this morning and went out into the woods to try it out and set up the snake skins(thier free w/ online orders fyi).
I must say it's wicked easy to set up and super comfy and can't to use it next weekend. But my question is about the little string arcoss the inside that has the pouch and keeps the fly off ya. When I sit on the hammcock as a seat it's tight across the top still and I can't lay in the hammock with out being inside. Is there a way to disconnect it so I can sit on it as a seat or a way to get around it?

I believe Michele (who's currently on a AT thru-hike) modified hers by using a mini biner so she could take it off. The Hennessy as a chair works much beter if you loosen the suspension and give it a good bit of sag.

I cut mine and reconnect it with a mini-beaner. Simple solution. Later I sent my HH to 2Questions and his wife modified it by putting zippers on the netting and some ties. Now I just zip open the netting and tie it out of the way. Now I can use the HH as a top entry or a bottom entry.

There is a video on the Hennessy home page that shows how to use the hammock as a chair and as a lounger without any modifications.

yeah I saw the video. I think he's pretending not to notice it. heh heh. well I decided to take it as is next weekend and see if i want to modify it then. If so I'll go with cutting it and putting some kind of clip to reconnect it.
Oh yeah I conected the fly to the tree instead of the clip's on the end of the hammock.... It gets waaay tighter and right before I slide the snake skins down the hammock I just untied it from the tree and clip it onto the hammock.
maybe this post should be in the tips and tricks part of the forum.
I'll keep you posted as to what I decide to do after this trip.

    Thanx all,
    Andy

Separate skins for the tarp means less fooling around with dettaching and reattaching to the suspension lines.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Don't put the tarp into the skins with the hammock. If the tarp's wet, the hammock will get wet.

Another suggestion for Andy concerning the fly is not only keep the fly separate from the hammock, but keep the fly where you can get at it quickly!! The first time it rained for me after I made it to camp I realized the fly was in a sack in the bottom of my pack! Live and learn. Now my fly rides in its own mesh bag attached to the outside of my pack. First thing up, last thing down.

That's some great advise. I'd also say that you might consider a bigger tarp if you have not already done so. Many Hennessy user's here upgrade to a much bigger tarp and there are some good ones to choose from. The Hennessy tarp IMO is like hammock floss. Some use it with no issues. I will say the stock tarp attached to the hammock is pretty conveniant in weather your sure is gonna be nice.
