1st Ever Black Hills of South Dakota Hang Aug. 17th & 18th

So i know this is pretty far in advance, but i just booked the site and it got me all excited so i decided to post it now so people will have plenty of time to plan, my girlfriend said i should wait till after the 1st of the year.......i didn't listen

heres' the nuts and bolts info

where: Sheridan Lake Group Campsite SS1.....dead center of the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota

    http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/black...26149&actid=33

    http://www.recreation.gov/camping/Sh...ex=CampingSpot

when: august 17th and 18th, 2012.......group site for up to 55 people

here are some pics of the site, you will notice all of the perfectly spaced trees in the pics of the campsite

Obviously this date will work for some and not for others, but the chaos of the sturgis motorcycle rally is the first full week of august so that is obviously out. With all the other things going on in the hills we thought that this would be the best time for it, so we made an executive decision and reserved the site for that weekend.

if you think you will be able to make this 1st ever black hills hang, post in this thread any questions you might have or any other information that you think i should post and i will

here's a link to the home page for the Black Hills Forest if you want to check out some other info

    http://www.fs.usda.gov/wps/portal/fs...est-%2520Home/

and a map of the area

    http://www.blackhillsbadlands.com/ho...s/sdbhprintmap

here is a link with the hiking trails in the area

    http://www.trails.com/stateactivity.aspx?area=10075

spreadsheet link, if you are planning to attend or are a maybe put yourself down so we will have and idea of a count

That place looks sweet! It's 1474.34 miles from my zip code - just outside the realm of possibilities for me, but I look forward to the trip reports in late AUG 2012.

I love the black hills! My wife has never been but we've been talking about getting out that way for a vacation..... maybe it'll be next August! I usually work weekends (weddings) so I'm not sure about the date, but for now I am free!

I love the Black Hills ... I might consider driving from Seattle for that one.

It's really good notice on this one. I am pretty sure I will be in Peru during that time. However, I wouldn't mind making it to the Black Hills if I am in the U.S.A and I'll keep an eye on this thread. Regardless though, I hope everyone has a blast out there.

I just moved to Sundance Wy from Minnesota. As long as I'm not working I will sure be that this one! I was just thinking that I should try to get a hang in the Bear Lodge Mnts. Got it marked on the calender!

Wow, great looking site. I can see that place with hammocks hanging all over. Nice image in my head. I would love to attend, but I live in SC and that is quite a haul. However; if I can get vacation time, I may end up in the Black Hills in August.

How far from Sturgis is this hang site????? From my door to the Buffalo Chip is 1547 miles and I have been itching to go back. I wanted to hang the entire way to Sturgis, when I went last year, but the others in my group did not like the idea so I stayed with them in the Toyhauler RV, comfortable but bummed.

Lucky for you, you've found a better class of people.
