I received a couple of pair of Wristies (Wristies.com) earlier this week, and they are inexpensive and offer two sizes. They have thumb holes instead of half-thumbs.

Size IS important, as I tried on a pair of these Marmot wrist warmers at REI

and they were more like wrist girdles on me. And my hands are only size L.

I got a pair of those back in September. Very nice indeed and they sure help keep my paws warm. Not merino but seem to be durable. Fire would not be their friend.

I was inspired by Shug to makes these a few years ago! Works Great! These are cheap to make saving you $$$$! I used one pair of old socks and a old shoe string. I also use the toe end to store my batteries from getting cold? I think Shug is right about keeping the wrist warm and I also think keeping your neck warm is also important! Stay warm and toasty my friends!

Thanks, These are easy and cheap to make! You really dont have to put the strings on but it helps the top side from curling up when you put your hands in your pockets. I hope to be wearing them at Mt.Rogers this year.
