Hanging or hiking over the holidays?

Anyone got outdoor plans over the holidays?

My son is home on leave from the Army and the first thing he mentioned was that we needed to get in a hike somewhere.
I'm taking him, his brother and their significant others to Congaree National Swamp near Columbia SC. We're planning to follow the route Just Jeff posted here

My DIL is a photographer. There will be pictures.
He is your friend, your companion, your defender... he is your dog. You are his life, his leader, and master. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of that devotion.

My son and I will be leaving on Monday for a trip. We are planning on hiking the Kings Mountain Trail at Kings Mountain State Park. We did Congaree this past year. We canoed in and set up base camp and hiked from there each day. Water is terrible there. I will pack it in the next time. Have you checked with the park to see if the trail are accessible? It is the wet season and a great deal of this park is underwater at times. Hope you and your crew enjoy the trip!!!

That was a good trip...almost completely level so it'll be a good conversation hike with no huffing and puffing up hills. Don't forget about the pigs!

Had one campout already at the wolf preserve. Might be able to talk the family into another one. Probably just a car camping one, though.

I'm headed out to the SHT this Weds for a 3 day wander in the woods. Just me, the wild and a buttload of gear to test out.

Going hiking solo in Jefferson State Forest while I am down here in Louisville ... good to be far from Brooklyn-town!

I'm going to be trying out some new gear and methods in the woods behind my parent's house on New Year's Eve. It'll be easy to bail if I find out that I'm not entirely prepared.

My scouts and I are hanging the 27-29. We have a heated cabin just in case and for our meeting. They will be building their Geodesic dome model. The model will be used to fine tune the finished dome size.

The full size Geodesic Dome will be designed to hang 8 hammocks. The full size dome will be approx. 11ft tall and 22ft across.

I know Santa is a camper because he gets me the coolest camping gear.
