Welcome from Minnesota...Noob myself.... Lots of experienced folks in here...
Welcome TG.
Welcome from Spicewood.
We are now ready to start our way down the Great Unknown. We are three quarters of a mile in the depth of the earth. We have an unknown distance yet to run, an unknow river yet to explore. What falls there are, we know not; what rocks beset the channel, we know not; what walls rise over the river, we know not. Ah, well! We may conjecture many things. The men talk as cheerfully as ever; jests are bandied about freely this morning; but to me the cheer is somber and the jests are ghastly. Powell 1869

Welcome from Florida! I've hung with forum members from Texas and they are fine folks, and a fun bunch of guys & gals too! Be sure to watch the "trip planning" sub-forum and hook up with some fellow local hangers.

A warm welcome from Florida to you.
Check out Shug's videos on hammocking, they are very informative and entertaining and must include addictive also.
Also check out flatline's forum member dispersal sheet. Very easy to use.
And, equally important, get "The Ultimate Hang" book by Derek Hansen aka dejoha, HF member. It has all you need to get started and a great companion on the trail.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
