That is not a bad idea, except for what i was making, that wouldn't work for me. I made a rain kilt...not a wrap, an actual kilt. I will have to post up my results when I get off of my but and take the pictures and write the post.

I use tailor's chalk and a yard stick. White for dark material and blue for light material. Seems to hang around long enough for me to make my cut, and I can wipe it away after.

Fortunately its all straight lines. Think I'll give tape a try first...have plenty handy and it'll save me a trip to the store...

    Thanks y'all...

I have this yellow pencil thing called a "China Marker". It is a paper-wrapped pencil with a grease marker core. It leaves a yellow trail on almost anything. I have used it instead of fabric marker on some really slick stuff.

I always keep a SILVER sharpie in my sewing box. Marks on just about anything.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I use an air erasable fabric marking pen. The dye fades to invisible after a couple of days.

I prefer it to chalk as it makes me complete a project quickly, or the marks dissapear

Blue masking tape didn't work so well...well, maybe it worked a little too well, it stuck a little too well anyway. I reverted to a regular black sharpie. Tried a silver Sharpie but it bled through way too much. Late in the game I discovered that a UniBall pen worked as well as anything and didn't bleed through. Top quilt is almost finished (pix to come), UQ tomorrow I hope...
