My first was a USGI WWII issue jungle hammock, fell into my hands after an old veteran died. He had 2, I got one, my friend got the other. An example of the rare "government got it right" phenomenon. Double layer bed kept the skeeters away from my back, canopy kept the rain off my face, and netting kept the skeeters outta my ears. Couldn't do anything about thunder or lightning.
When the canopy deteriorated into serious stiffness, I cast about for a replacement. Settled on the Hennessy in 2002.
Am still learning how to use it.
I hate packing a tent around. Und hence, ze hammock.
