If you guys had to pick between 2 tarps the eno fastfly or dryfly which one would you pick?

I've got a fastfly i picked up really cheap as a spare. Works ok in light rain, but anything heavier and you might get wet.

I'll see if I can't actually give you some help.

I purchased the DryFly, so if I had to pick between the two..... the dryfly wins. It is cut kinda stupid but works. I like that I can fold the ends in like doors, that's great for winter.

There are much much better tarps out there though.

got my FastFly on a sale for around 65.00 (was in an actual storefront) just because I needed a cheapish one asap.

Definitely a summer good weather tarp for me. I'd hate to be stuck out in the rain with it. Cost per ounce it's one of the best bangs for your buck though. And actually when I bought it I thought I was buying the rectangle one, didn't realize it was a diamond fly.

If you're set on these two, go DryFly

But for a similar price point you can probably find something with more coverage and a comprable weight.

I will say this about the FastFly though, it's probably the easiest tarp I've ever set up.

I live in ontario and by the looks of it there is a limited amount of stores to buy from or pay alot of duty at the border for decent equipment. Therefore my choices are limited.

I know they sell Chinooks over in CA, those are a great tarp, I used to have one and it was a champion, jsut went lighter so I sold it. Wish I hadn't some days. Definitely a great bang for your buck and they usually go here for between 30.00 and 50.00. Awesome tarp and should be available up there buddy.

Here is a Canadian site that sells Chinook and Kelty tarps. They are good value for the money but are heavier because they are polyester taffeta and not silnylon. Silnylon is the most common tarp material around here because it has a decent weight to cost ratio. MEC sells silnylon tarps. They are not catenary cut, just retangular but they do the job. I was just in my local MEC and saw a 9x12 PU coated tarp for $50.00. Don't see them on the website so maybe they are on clearance.

Duty is not that much when ordering from the States considering what you'd pay in HST when buying in Canada. Sometimes I don't even pay any duties. The key is to get things shipped USPS because UPS and FedEx charge brokerage fees.

Where were you thinking of getting ENO tarps from?

You sold your Chinook!

I know you regret that, the coverage outstanding and the ends fold in once you sew on 2 extra tie outs. It's my backyard tarp and loaner but I'm using it at Mt Rogers this year so I can take it to ground and seal it up for extra warmth.
To the OP, You cant go wrong if you're not looking to be ultra light for rain & snow protection and in Summer it's awfully sweet to use hiking poles to prop it up into porch mode.
