    IX + Fleece = ?????

i will soon be starting my first diy UQ. I am going to be making it out of IX and fleece. i had some questions about moisture and temps.

    1. i am generally a cold sleeper and i will doing most of my hanging in temps ranging from the low 40's to upper 60's. should i do all three layers of IX with one layer of fleece? or would two layers of IX and one layer of fleece do the trick?

    2. how should the layers go? IX fleece IX or all IX layers with fleece on top?

    3. how will the layers affect moisture?

As always thanks for the info

Fleeceltex sounds like an interesting idea. What's the purpose of using the fleece in conjunction with the IX? Just added loft?

i have read that using just IX can make moisture an issue. as i understood from a thread on HF the fleece can help absorbing the moisture as well as adding an additional layer of insulation. i guess my main ? was if i can use 2 layers of IX and a layer of fleece to get to the temps that i will be sleeping in.

I have reached those temps with a two later shamu ix uq. That said be very aware that ix can be extremely finnicky. A shoulder width difference of an inch or two can make it seal for one and not for another, so pay close attention to fit/seal when you set up your cuts and darts before cutting.

tbctx - thanks for the info. i am hoping to get things started soon. when you were talking about the seal i am guessing that you are talking about the seal of the UQ to the hammock. if i am wrong let me know.

Yep, pay attention to around the shoulders thats where people seem to normally have problems. Mine is a nice cool line down my back.

I think it's ix to the inside due to it sorta working as a vapor barrier. Macentyr would know for sure (think I spelt his handle right).
