    Compressing Insultex

I have an insultex TQ I've been using to supplement my sleeping bag on cold nights and plan to use as my main summer TQ when the weather gets warm. While it blows down out of the water on weight, it's not, as I can see, very compressible. Not the end of the world, but I was wondering if people have any tips on how to squeeze it down smaller. Right now, I kind of fold the top (wide) part in half, roll it up as tight as I can, and cinch it shut with a drawstring at the foot end.

When I used mt IX UQ and TQ I did the same thing I do with other compressible gear. I put it sort of loosely in a stuff sac i.e. not compressed and then allow it to compress and mold with the other similarly packed compressibles when packing my backpack.

IX is not the most easily compressed material, but it will compress. It does require a really good compression sack.

Here is a image of my full lenght UQ with two layers of IX and one sandwiched layer of Climashield 6.0 weighing in at 2.5 lbs

Here is the DIY compression sack that allowed me to do a relatively great job of compressing it.

I stopped trying to compress it.
I wrap one around my sleeping bag and the other around my clothes bag while in my pack.
It keeps them from getting wet.
