Solution for the weight: Take it on trips where your companion is a ground sleeper. Let him or her carry the tarp. At 28oz vs. a tent they shouldn't complain much. The shelter looks plenty large enough for two to sleep in. Then when the conditions arise where you need the coverage on your solo trip you have the options of this shelter.

I saw it at trail days. It is well made and provides great coverage. It will have a following for those seeking the most protection with some weight penalty. It was quit windy at trail days and the hut seemed sturdy enough. For myself, I think I'll stick with my 11x10 JRB.
