Finishing off zing it ridge & guy lines

Hi all, I've just added my ridge & guy line's to my warbonnet Big Mambajamba tarp & was wondering what the best method for preventing frayed ends was. The line I've used is Sampson zing it 1.75mm.With para cord in the past I melt the ends, but is this the best method for zing it or should I just tie figure of eights in the ends, or add electrical tape? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Melt with a lighter works for me in most cases.

You can also do a short backsplice. It also never hurts to splice a small loop into the ends, they're very handy.
    Good luck,

Melting the ends doesn't work quite as well for spectra (Zing-it, etc) as it does for nylon or dacron because it doesn't actually fuse, it just "disintegrates".... Sort of. Maybe, heat it, then put a bit of tape on it. But a backsplice is good, except that it's so slippery it can slide out. Sometimes I make a backspice and then tie an overhand knot in the thicker buried section.

Or you could let it fray.

The best way I've found with the stuff is to wrap masking tape around the very end of the line and trim flush.

When you then melt it with a flame, it wont shrink back.

Back splice it, it makes a nice clean end.

+1 on the back splice. That's what I do. Of course, I think I might be more addicted to splicing than I am to hanging in general...

I just finished up a set for my Super Fly and asked this same question ,the best idea was a spliced eye at each end, a four inch eye in one end and a two inch in the other, then i can loop extentions in if needed for porch mode. Worked great!

or if you're like me you can do it the lazy way and just tie an overhand knot-fixed loop on the end. You can pull the cord through the tied-in loop and it makes a cinching loop. Use prussics attached to my tarp to adjust. Ain't the prettiest thing, but after hearing Mike talk about his fun time backsplicing his, I figured I'd save myself the aggrivation
