    DIY Anorak

Well I have been working on this for a while but with the hollidays and such did not get much time to finish it until now.

It actually took longer to plan, and incorporate all of the different ideas I got from visiting so many sites than it did to do the layout and sewing.

This started out to be a bit like the Conover pattern from A SnowWalkers Companion. Thanks Mbiraman and the wintertrekking website

I added more than 4 inches to the width at the body seam, and enlarged the sleeves to over 24 inches from the shoulder to underarm seam.

I had help pondering the sleeve from MacEntyre. Thanks Mac for confirming my thoughts

I also enlarged the neck opening a bunch, which changed the hood drastically. The hood is fleece lined

It is a double layer construction, open at the sleeve cuffs, and hem, to allow frost to drop out and not collect and turn to ice in those areas, and an oversize front pocket.

This is large enough to go over my "Fishtail" parka and get the parka hood out and under the Anorak hood.
The Anorak can be used alone without much insulation and the hood and body can be drawn up using the sash at the waist and the hood drawcords front and back.

I left the hem very long and may shorten it a bit after trying it out.

It's not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body,
But rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting,
    Woo Hoo!....What a Ride!
