Thirty years ago, a friend thought I was highly strung. Like on a bungee rope. Even my kids call me Bungie.

Beernuts was the nickname for my late Golden Retriever. It fit her perfectly.

My family is Welsh, Irish, Scots-Irish (which I never really understood-aren't Scots-Irish really just Scots) anyhoo...and German and all migrated to the Americas during the 1600's to NC and then eventually to the Grayson Highlands. I took a fascination with the Welsh background and translated my name into what it would have been if the English Crown had not outlawed the Welsh language. Hence, the closest translation would be Siarl and the last name would have been Bychan.

I'm Beardly, I have a beard, I like beards, I think all men should have a beard. Beards are what separate the men from the women and children.

What does your HF Screen-name mean?

20 years ago my then boss and now best friend was waxing eloquent about the fact that given the right location, time and weather that a single insignificant acorn (oakseed) potentially held within itself an entire forest! Now that is potential. I live with the hope that the insignificant details of my life will with the right conditions effect generations yet unborn. Next time you pick up an acorn realize you are holding a forest in your hands…so if a nut has that kind of potential what about the effect you have on your kids, friends & coworkers. Sorry I that comes off a little soap boxy but its why I'm "Oakseed"
"The mighty oak is nothing more than a little nut that held his ground."

    Howdy folks,

When I was a young computer gamer I wanted a tag that would be relatively unique but also a nod to some warrior or general from history. I spent quite some time reading up and most of it was on Japanese history because I have always been a bit fascinated with their culture. I found a name.

    Japanese history anyone?

Hashiba comes from Hashiba Hideyoshi, which was a moniker that Toyotomi Hideyoshi took before he received the name Toyotomi, some time after becoming one of Oda Nobunaga's most preeminent generals despite his peasant origins. He would go on to become a successful politiion. He was never Shogun, be he did hold high positions in court and essentially ruled. He was responsible for many of the cultural/law reforms we commonly know about from Japan's violent history.

Tokugawa Ieyasu became shogun and ruler after his death, establishing the last shogunate family that would ever rule Japan.
