The shabano is a large hut for multiple family units among the Yanomami tribe of Venezuela. By far, the most prevalent piece of furniture in the shabano is the hammock. It is used as a bed, chair, sofa, crib, etc. In fact, it is the only bed they have, so there are no "non-hammockers."

Here's a picture of one from the air. Click on it to get a better view.

    Hello all.
Back when I used to work with Brown and Root they used to issue us Nomex (Flame Retardant Coveralls) at the gate to one of the plants we worked at. I am 6'4" and a lot of the times they would issue me coveralls that had been modified for shorter rounder people by cutting the arms and the legs short. The Nomex being too small and my initials being BH(which was clearly marked on all my tools and my tool box) prompted the old timers to start calling me Baby Huey and it kind of stuck. The nickname is now close to 23 years old and still going strong.

    Hope that helps explain.

Nothofagus cunninghamii is my favourite species of tree here in Victoria, Australia. I'm a nature lover and I tread lightly. A hammock will help, when I get one. Lots of information to digest.

My first post on these forums in -- I don't know; years? Good to be getting back into this, and I dig this thread. Some of the answers are a lot of fun.

My screen name, "Manach," is Scottish Gaelic for "monk." I got married and had children young, but years later I fell in love with the idea of being a monk. That opportunity is long passed, of course, but I still have a great fondness for the monastic lifestyle.

Deathstar77. I think it's fairly obvious that i'm a Star Wars fanatic. However, my trail name is 200 Yards, because I jokingly tell my friends that I need to stop and rest every 200 yards

Olive drab green is my favorite color so Odie Green was born.
Keep it simple. The more crap you have and the more complicated it is, the more likely it is to break. Get back to basics man!
