Years ago, when message boards were still relatively young (late 90's), I needed a name to register with, and started using Chiliboy. Not sure why, just popped in my head when trying ot think of something.

I dropped the 'boy' part when I hit 30.. Just didn't seem right anymore. lol. I use some variation of Chili on pretty much every forum now.

akiame, that is funny. Even though my first name is Biblical. My parents were hippies (stoned) when they found my name in a book of poetry. When you add it to my middle name, it means ..."Autumn rain flows into a brook."

Whoa! Hariph creek, what a coincidence! The first rains in autumn are pretty lovely, so it makes sense that many people are fans... But still, crazy! Hello!

Fodder, as in cannon fodder. To be expendable. Because I had to choose something, and it always seems to be available.

Fastmatt. Is an old nickname from my snowmobile racing days, I'm also known as Lid because I always wear a hat.but most colorful is my trail name which is "Honey wagon" yes as in the manure spreader. Lol. Due to family forum. I spare the details but lets just say it was givin to me after a hike/camp trip in which I had a stomach issue arise and spent the day honey wagoning the woods. Lol

My first name is Francis, which is a family name that's been around for a few generations. However I've always been called by my middle name (Mike). In college, I started adding the initial F to my name so my professors would know that I was the Francis on their role. Whenever I hike I meditate on the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi, because he was a nature lover. So, it just seems appropriate for me to use his/our name . I'm not a saint, btw. That's parts made up.

In general I've always liked the idea of DIYing things as cheaply and simply as possible. One hobby I picked up as a kid was salvaging and rebuilding old bicycles using mostly junkyard and garage sale supplies (i.e, scraps). It's especially gratifying when you have the coolest bike on the block and it only cost you a few bucks with some elbow grease and ingenuity. I've found that attitude to transfer to all the other hobbies I've picked up along the way. I love being able to go out and do some live in the woods using gear I made with my own two hands.
