I went through a bit of a rough patch around 20 years ago and a friend told me not to worry. He said, "You may always feel like the underdog, but you never give up; you'll be fine." He was right. Anyway, Subcanis is Latin for "Underdog". Since the term didn't really exist when Latin was spoken, there wasn't actually a translation for it, so I recruited a team of scholars on some Latin language chat room and received back a bunch of possible translations. I picked Subcanis, because it literally would have meant "Lower than a dog" which would have been a pretty insulting thing to say to someone in ancient times. The irony still makes me laugh. Needless to say, I had it tattooed on my arm to remind me never to give up.
