I don't have a neat story or anything like that. My first initial is A and one of my other names is Scott. I have a screen name I have used for 15 years on other boards, but it doesn't really fit in with the family friendly vibe around here.

If I ever make it to a group hang I'm sure I'll embarrass myself in some way that will lead to an actual trail name of some sort I can use here.
If your lucky enough to be outdoors, your lucky enough!

I got my trail name back in 1981 in Corfu, Greece at Pelekas Beach. It was the place to be for hippies and backpackers in Europe back in the 80s. The location was very much like the Leo Decaprio movie "The Beach," in that it was tough to find, a tough hike to get there, and one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. A lot of people heard about the place but very few ever found it, and that's the way we liked it.

It was a nude beach, and the only time we put on clothes was to go to the taverna for a beer or into town for food and nightlife. We lived right on the beach in reed huts we built ourselves.

I had a bleach blonde flattop haircut back then, and on my first night there, somebody said I looked like the comic book character Silver Surfer. That name stuck with me for the next six years of hiking and backpacking around Europe.

The hikers and backpackers were a close-knit group. Every summer the same group would meet at Pelekas Beach, but we would also arrange to meet in other places around Europe, ever broadening our circle of friends, and sharing adventures together. It was the most carefree, happiest time of my life.

And now I've got a new community of friends here at HF, and the adventures we share are hiking and hanging in the piney woods of North America. A lot has changed, what with two kids in college and a mortgage, but a lot about this whole hanging thing reminds me of the carefree days of my youth, and the friendships I forged with people from all walks of life.

Sure Fronkey, also an inspiration for bushcraft project list, some believe this was a weight for an atlatl which was used for throwing small dart type spears with great distance and accuracy.

two isles is my poker name on-line.
I chose it because of this native American story:

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

“One is Evil – It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

“The other is Good – It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

I spent much of my youth in the Bahamas. I learned from the #1 native in the Bahamas how to use a Hawaiian sling for spear fishing, I learned from Unk, the diver's father, how to navigate all the islands for deep sea fishing, diving, hand line fishing, bone fishing, getting conch, everything sea related. Hence:
    isles.

I was in the Boat Teams in the Navy. They descended from the Riverine Units in Vietnam and PT boats of WW2. If anyone has ever seen the movie "Apocalypse Now", they might recognize the callsign of the boat Martin Sheen took up the river was "PBR Streetgang".

I've been known to jump into the local cold springs of the Ozarks from time to time. Some people started calling me old Coldspring on day for jumping into one when it wasn't exactly warm out. The spring water doesn't really bother me much like some people either, I can stay in it all day in the summers. It's also a play on my last name, which means the same thing.
