I'm right at 60 and I have 7 grandkids that call me Pappy. Yes, I'm teaching them to hammock camp.
P.S. I still have my 1st camping hammock - a nylon mesh that folds up to softball size (it's over 40 years old). The modern Asym ripstop hammocks can't be beat and are the ones I use. My only complaint is that my 2 HHs are about 4 years old and they just won't wear out, so I don't have an excuse to buy a new hammock.

    Deep South Mountaineering

I founded a stewardship company called Deep South Mountaineering with my best friend. We really care about the environment and the areas we all love to hang in so much. Half of our time is dedicated to stewardship projects like the one in the video in the signature and half to making fantastically functional outdoor gear. A lot going on but if you want to work outside, like stewardship, and all the colors of the rainbow I'd check us out.

I'd be pleased to meet you shoot me a message.

I was in my high school religion class, and I was day dreaming and heard the name Apollyon from the teacher. I believe its Greek for destroyer. Used the name as an alias ever since.

For those interested... Cedar was my dog (passed Fall 2012) and camping companion for the whole family so when I started joining forums I used "Cedar" and when I found it was already taken I used his birthday Mar 28th (328) on the end. There you have it.

Re: What does your HF Screen-name mean?

Mine is simple. It's just Tanman spelled backwards.

    I've had that nickname forever.

    Iyamwhoiyam.

I don't believe in anonymous posting. If you won't own what you post, then don't post it.

I also don't like it when folks use different names on different sites. You will always know that I am the same guy on this site as on bwca.com, whiteblaze.net, meetup, my yootoob, my blog....

    that's my mini-rant.
Now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

When written with a small 'A' its the verb to destroy in Greek. When written with a large 'A' as you have, it's the name given to "the king of the bottomless pit" or "the king of the abyss" meaning the Devil, in Revelation 9:11.
So if you didn't know, you've taken Satan's name as your own.
