    Well since I am new here, y'all haven't many posts. My username is Laochri, and odds are that if you see Google it, it's me. Laochri is a Scotch Gaelic word or words. Laoch is Warrior and Ri is King. It's pronounced Lay-oc-ree. It was a RPG (Roll Playing Game) character when I was a kid.

    hi there Laochri,

    When I first saw this username, I thought there was something 'Gaelic' about it. (Scottish Gaelic is my first language).

    I'm with you on the meaning, fits well enough, but - and absolutely without any offence intended, or trying to 'diss' in any way - you're a wee bit 'off' with the pronounciation of 'laoch'.

    It's one vowel sound ie no separate sounding of the 'a' and 'o'. And it pretty much sounds as if you're trying to make both of these sounds at exactly the same time.

    The 'ch' is the next bit - and just about everyone has issues with that! It's not a 'ck' sound as in lock, neither is it a 'ch' as in 'choose'. It's almost like a 'clearing the throat' noise, or trying to get something unstuck from the roof of your mouth!

    I'm sure there'll be some sound file resources out there somewhere, and I could maybe find a link if you were interested.

    But if what your doing works for you, then crack on! HYOH.

    cheers

    D

    My name simply means I operated trackhoes and bobcats for a great number of years. As I was shown, any fool can "run" a machine, but it takes someone with some guts to operate one. I've flipped two, burned 1 (electrical fire), and had one incident with a wall in my 9 years of work. So I started using the name Oper8or in 1997 (when I started playing QuakeII Lith Mod).

    I don't work with heavy machinery any more. I am a Information Systems Security guy (I dont want to say admin or engi) because I catch to much flack for being to specific sometimes.

    Mine's pretty simple. Owlbears, much like myself, tend to frequent fantasy role playing games. That and we share an appearance that is goofy as all get out. :}

    For four years, between 2004 and 2008, I was heavy into military simulation airsoft. Our team name was Blackeagle. We had a strict naming convention in that you could only select from the phonetic alphabet. I chose Oscar. When I first signed up for the forums here, I used the name "Freth". One of the first replies to my introduction was "what kind of name is Freth?", so I ended up changing it to "Oscar-Blackeagle" in short order. As for Freth, the name came from a D&D character one of my friends made. I adopted the name early on for my own when the internet started to hit in the early 90's. I still use Freth for many things, including my YouTube channel. I rarely use Oscar-Blackeagle anymore.
    Proving to the world that I can hang.

    bak = first 3 letters of my last name
    rch = abbr. first name
    2= I'm a Jr.

    I have a different username that I typically use in forums, but I grew out of it over the years.

    Since I also play drums I am drawn to the fact that the first drum was most likely a log of some sort.
