Way back when, in my hunt for an awesome name for a World of Warcraft character. I compounded bits and pieces from here and ther to create Fengathor, then when my girlfriend at the time introduced me to the furry community, it became the name I used for that as well. It's been my name on every forum, video game, and instant messenger ever since. The name's really become a part of me. It's commonly shortened to Feng, which is actually a chinese surname, and has a chinese symbol to represent it, and I'll actually be getting a tattoo of the Feng symbol in the near future

When I started running a number of years ago, my first real race was the Reach the Beach marathon - a 200 mile team marathon. I was the team captain, and so they made me a tag for my gear bag - "Captain Coupal". It stuck, because I tend to be the one in my circle of friends to organize teams, etc...

Re: What does your HF Screen-name mean?

I enjoy reading how everyone got their names. It would be helpful if pronunciation was included for ones that are not quite so obvious.

Pronunciation is actually the one thing about my name that annoys me! The name Craig is from the Scottish gaelic word meaning 'rock', and is pronounced 'krayg' Americans always seem to pronounce it 'kreg'. maybe someone can shed some light on the reason for this??

I don't know which "Americans" you're talking about - here in KY we all pronounce it "Krayg"

Re: What does your HF Screen-name mean?

Ah, fair enough, I just figured it was a U.S thing and not a dialect thing, maybe I'm wrong??

I've heard it repeatedly on games, t.v. and youtube, we also have a lot of people coming over from the U.S for the Edinburgh festival, when I meet someone, the dialogue has always went something like this...
"Hey, nice to meet you, I'm KRAYG"
"Nice to meet you KREG, I'm..."

Not trying to cause any offence here, just wondering where it came from?

Mine means "King Bold" and that is how it is pronounced. It is my family name but with the 15th century spelling and pronunciation.

This is great. I would have had no idea how to pronounce that and would have butchered it royally. See what I did there?
