When I got to my unit at Fort Bragg, some older guys started calling me "Scopin' Bill" because I was always scopin' out the situation. Honestly, they were making fun of the fact that I was an introvert and didn't say much... just watched and listened. I've been lurking for 3 years on Hammock Forums and this is my second post, so I guess I'm still scopin' things out. Some things never change

What does your HF Screen-name mean?

I'm a fly fishing junkie. There's no fish more elegant nor pursuit so fine as stalking trout.

I'm not particularly religious but my favorite fishing quote is from "A River Runs Through It"

"In our family, there was no clear line between religion and fly fishing. We lived at the junction of great trout rivers in western Montana, and our father was a Presbyterian minister and a fly fisherman who tied his own flies and taught others. He told us about Christ's disciples being fishermen, and we were left to assume, as my brother and I did, that all first-class fishermen on the Sea of Galilee were fly fishermen and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman."

What does your HF Screen-name mean?

Well it's pretty simple... I have some Cherokee blood in me from several generations back (although you'd never know it to look at me). I was told that "supposedly" my indian name was Little Bear. Now that kinda fits my personality... I'm very slow to anger but when I do... look out! Not that I let myself get angry much anymore. Anyway I was going to use Little Bear but it was already taken so.... Lil'Bear it is!

Mine comes from the name of Danger Mouse's (an old BBC cartoon) sidekick who was scared of everything and the name of a rather peculiar kitten I had rescued and raised who was my wife's favorite cat. He was a good cat. I use the nick all over the place. My name is Richard, but my friends call me Rich, which I invite you all to call me.
