    what width? (winter)

I'm curious if there are winter (0 degrees) quilt users that use their top quilt on the ground as well as in the hammock. If so, what width is your quilt? I'm looking at replacing a 15 degree bag with a 0 degree quilt, but I want to be able to use it on the ground and in the hammock, and I'm trying to determine how wide I want/need it.

I'm relatively small (5'5", 155 lbs, 38" chest), but I'm thinking I may want it a bit wider to help prevent drafts when on the ground. I was thinking around 55" wide. What do you think? Too wide? Need it wider?

I think 55-56" would be fine for your size while on the ground. My 20 deg quilt is 52" and works fine for me (6'4", 205 lbs), but I would want a little wider for 0 deg.

    yes, wide is warm

Get a TQ wide enough to cover a side sleeper who is wearing a 14-16 oz. down parka. You will need the insulation on your neck, shoulders, and elbows at those temps.
