    Lines for an OMW tarp?

So, I bought a Wilderness Logics Old Man Winter tarp that I have yet to even find time to set up but I have a couple of questions.

Should I put shock cord on the pull-outs? If so, size? Where do you buy shock cord at?

I assume most the other guy lines you would suggest to set up with normal line? Should I look into making self-tensioning lines? If so, all of them or just certain ones?

Yes, I can be this much of a noob.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions!

I buy my shock cord at REI. They have several sizes (diameters).

I've used shockcord on my side pullouts but never tried it on the corner tieouts of the tarp.
    Sorry not much help there.

On my Oldman Winter tarp I use a 1/8 shock cord from Wilderness Logics for the panel pulls. I've tried smaller dia. but the results were not great. I get my guy line from zpacks.com and line locks too. I really like the glow of their yellow cords at night. The line locks are very simple also. As for self line tensioning sets, they are not for me! Too much slack......

I need to get some shock cord on my pull outs... But what I do have and recommend is all shock cord lines on the doors. I just pull it and tie it to the side stakes and it pulls the doors closed. When I want in or out I just pull and the shock cord gives plenty for me to step out and then it closes right up behind me. Pretty sure I got this idea from water monkey.

    Hi Kirk,
I recently set my winter tarp up in the backyard to experiment with different tie outs, RL's, door options.
You might get a idea or two. Check it out.

I really like the Wilderness Logics Old Man Winter tarp. Lot's of coverage lots of options.
Finding away to reduce the number of stakes one needs might be worth exploring.

I hope you'll post some pictures of your experimenting.

I use both straight tarp lines and tarp lines with shock cord with mini line locks with my OMW tarp (and my other tarps). Have not decided on which system I like better.

I like to use yellow zing it as it makes it easy to see the lines

I took the shock cord, likely smaller than 1/8", that came with my GT SBP and used that for each tie out spot on my tarp. I figured I had it and wasn't using it so it works. Add to that I keep 550 cord with me pretty much all the time so if I need it I have that and it has some stretch to it also. I think that at a couple points I actually doubled the shock cord for extra security.
