Get busted? TVA busted? I thought you could legally camp on TVA islands....maybe not.

i kayak and camp on numerous islands on cherokee lake. it's not a problem.
other area lakes though have TWRA land is clearly posted for no camping, but TVA land is fair game.

this time of year you don't have to deal with the goofs on jet skis, or the pontoon boats who lay claim to every island campsite for days at a time.

If you show up then we know we will be warm...and not a dead stick left in the forest!

actually this is the season to be kayak camping on any island. lake levels are low, so all of the driftwood is high and dry and easy pickins for fueling the cremation ceremonies.

Alcoa has actually set up a series of campsites on Calderwood lake that accessed by boat only. Well, unless you are like me and doing a recon looking for trail relocations and happen to find them by accident. There is a really cool one near a waterfall here:

I've been to that one, found it this past Summer. It's a beautiful place.

I've camped on many islands owned by TVA. And I paddle with a couple of TVA retirees that have shown me quite a few places that have potential. All are open to camping no problem.
