It would be a good reason for me to get the canoe out.

Might work. If we do it at the spot I pegged, I now actually know how to walk there, and it isn't too far to walk. Just bring a machete.

Parking sucks. But if you bring a boat it is good.

calderwood is a beautiful lake to paddle. it's steep forested banks give you a feeling of paddling down a deep gorge. and the nightly fog bank that rolls down the lake is a cool sight to see.
but the water is far too cold for swimming, even on the hottest of summer days.

it does though, give you access to slickrock creek, which is a great staging area
for some of the best, seldom hiked trails around.
and you can pretty much hang a hammock or pitch a tent wherever you please.

chilhowee lake is another good paddle/camping lake. though the tent camp sites are limited.
there's numerous areas along the shore across from 129 to hang a hammock.

Sorry folks for some reason I wasn't receiving any notifications when I got replies to this thread...

This particular place is an area we call Circle Park, it's only 1 mile straight across. There's probably better areas so I was hoping for some ideas from you folks. I was hoping for it to be with in an hour from where I am so I could talk the wife into going lol.
