I've been paddling TVA lakes for years...the general consensus (I'm at work and my partner is a big bass boater) is that islands on TVA lakes are public use...and land on the side of the lakes are either private or national forest....there are some lands adjacent to water that are TVA owened and can be restricted/parks/campgrounds/launches/etc.

Frozen Head State Park / Great Eastern Trail & Cumberland Trail? Anyone thought of this location. Might make for some goodwill for the Cumberland Trail Conf. I am from Va, but looking at the GET as a long distance hike in the future. If someone contacts the CTC, maybe some trail maintenance can be done at the hang and everyone can access the site without crowds and permits required.
Frozen Head is west of Knoxville on the plateau. Let me know what you think.
Frozen Head is another great location and great idea....possibly for another time and hang? Or maybe the OP is bound/determined to pull off this Cherokee hang. Matters not to me and its'been a while since I've been on the CT--would be nice to hike into this hang on this trail. Last time I was on it was on a rock crew working in Soddy Daisy.
Honestly I just want to go to a group hang that is close to me, the location doesn't matter to me as long as its with in an hour or so drive from the Morristown, TN area that's why I was asking for opinions.

I like the location you picked and the panther creek idea that way those that wanna paddle can do so back east to the location and those who aren't so inclined can also access the site easily as well. Just my. 02

Ok bad news folks we gotta pick a different location. I spoke to a TWRA officer today and he said that "Circle Park" is owned by TWRA and we can't camp on any TWRA land but TVA land is ok.
