Yeah I've used them a fair bit, I tend to take them off after a while and then go back to them again.

The only down side is you're restricted to half your cord length minimum, if you get a close pitch or your next to a banking, you need to tie a conventional knot to get the short length.

They are quick and easy though.

They have some over at zpacks that look to be the same, and I watched lukestegs take 50mph gusts of wind all day without tensioners with no problems.

I use these line tensioners, they weight next to nothing, on Lawson's glow wire.

they hold tight for me and no slippage.

    There are limitless alternatives.

Here's a video of my alternative (starts at the 1:30 mark); no hardware, no knots in the field.

There's a good pictorial of one way to use them here
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ight=line-locs

I'm currently putting together some guylines by combining that technique with the one outlined in posts 1 and 2 of this thread
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=3731

Basically, I'm using the shock cord tensioner part in the second thread to attach the line-loks to the tarp, mostly so I have the back-up of the 1.75mm static cord so the shock cord doesn't get overloaded.
