    Dutch inspired hooks

I recently made a couple of underquilts and have been pondering the idea of the triangle thingies. Before I could make these Dutch comes out with these cool little clips http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=44619 . So I was debating on what to do, make triangle thingies or buy Dutch hooks. Well as the DIY'er I am, I was inspired to make my own clip (thanks Dutch for your innovations and inspiration) and this is what I came up with.

I cut these out on my laser. They will slide right on the suspension on each end of your UQ.

I hung my UQ on a line of zing-it to demonstrate. This is without the clip hooked.

To clip it, pull the clip up and over your ridgeline and hook the other side of your suspension to it. It will stay in place. You can slide this up and down the suspension to fine tune.

I will field test these next weekend.

Yes they are plastic. It is acrylic but will be making some out of a more forgiving material that's not so brittle. I just didn't have any in stack at the moment. Probably a delrin, nylon6/6 or ABS.

'I cut these out on my laser'
Please tell me more about this laser---possibly a link?
It will cut things like a plastic cutting board right? and
I know Delrin-have a set of bagpipes out of it (polymerized
    formaldehyde I think)...
Could have a lot of fun with one I bet.

bryanoates-thanks for the link. When I read this 'leasing-to-own a laser system for a low monthly payment.' I knew it wasn't for me! I'll stick with the Dremel and the cutting board for now

That looks like a good idea. I am very interested in how it holds it's position on the ridgeline during the night.
Do you think you will need something to keep in in place? (stopper knot or prussik loop)

If you have any farm or fencing supply stores in your area, you might want to look for something like these Open Tap Crimp Sleeves.
They weigh 2 grams each and don't cost very much.

or just buy the real ones from Dutch.
