Has anyone made the Grizz break out of Cuben yet? If so what were the results?

I haven't personally, but I know warbonnetguy makes all his door kits in sil due to the extra springiness.

Even when he had tarps made of spinn, he still made all the doorkits in sil.

I believe that the tautness of the spinn (and I'm assuming cuben would act similarly) did not work well with the door kits.

I'm actually planning on making some this year. I don't know when I will get to it, but I'd be interested to see what someone who's tried it has to say as well.

    cost?

My opinion is the cost would be higher than the benefit of the weight savings, especially if you only carry the doors on some trips. There would be lower sales of expensive add-on doors.

If I hung in a rainforest often, I would have sewn on doors, not removable ones.

yep, I made a cuben beak for a cuben tarp.
Results : It was lighter than my sil ones, which was the point of it.

Since the cuben roll is narrower than sil, I ended up changing the template a little.

It got a fine work-out on a hike this summer on the Superior Hiking Trail, through an all-night high wind storm.

Hay Grizz, this what I'm looking for. Hands on experience. Do you have any pictures? Do you have a modified templet? I have a Lawson Hex lite cuben tarp and was wanting to make some doors at the head end of the hammock. No such thing as light rain, more like driven rain. If I like how It turns out I'll make a set. The weight penalty would not be noticeable to alwasy cary in your pack for rain or wind.
