Welcome to HF. Don't let "old-guy health issues" keep you from enjoying hammock hanging and the outdoors in general. There are a bunch of us old guys on here that are in the same boat so to speak.

Welcome! I recommend The Ultimate Hang book and Ed Speer's book for a lot of basic info. But hammocks are definitely the way to go for those of us in our second childhood!
Welcome from another from western KY.
I live near Russellville KY. I am your senior by almost a decade.
Hammocks have solved many discomforts of camping, but also just plain sleeping for me.
I have several styles of hammocks you could try out if you live near enough to visit. I also have a portable hammock stand you might enjoy seeing. : )

Welcome from yet another Kentuckian. Western KY is a big place but you are pretty close to some excellent kayaking-hiking-hanging opportunities.
Mammoth Cave and LBL are great places to lose yourself in the woods or on the water. Both can be great for short hikes and extended trips.
A hammock simplified camping for me and at the same time has allowed me to meet some great folks.
Good luck picking out your kit!
Welcome from far West KY!
I was just contacted this week by a new start-up gathering of fellow kayakers in the Jackson Purchase (Purchase Area Conoeist and Kayakers). They can be found on the FB social site. You might check them out for some of their upcoming gatherings and outings.
Welcome and enjoy! I built my first hammock from $1.5/yd fabric form Wal-Mart days after my friend showed me his Hennessy. It has been sweet sleeping ever since!
Welcome from north Ga. I too, read Colin Fletcher's book, and that is what put me "on the trail" and at the age of 50 no less, a lot of years have flown by and now "hammock camping" appears and again I am put back "on the trail". I've got to be careful of what I read. Happy hanging.
