    DIY solution for soaking fog?

I am planning a bike tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway in the mountains of NC and VA this spring.

There are frequent soaking fogs in that part of the world.

Anyone have DIY plans for a hammock undercover that would deal with these bone chilling fogs? I am not interested in insulation, just fog protection.

The ideal solution would weigh less than 8 oz (including suspension) and be highly compressible.

    Happy Trails.

tpcanu - 3 yards of dwr nylon ripstop makes a fine light weight weather shield. Mine is made the same as a gathered end hammock - so my WBBB fits inside it - hammock inside hammock weather shield. I use 2 short pieces of shock cord to run around the gathered ends of my Blackbird

A hamock sock is another option. It's akin to an envelope that encloses the whole hammock and UQ. The weather shield only covers the UQ. When I get around to it this is what I'll do for me. Having spent many days in Pisgah National "Rain" Forest, I know exactly what you're talking about.

hammock sock for sure. Mine is as simple as it gets, fitted at the foot end and open with adrawstring at the head. The bottom is sil (to protect the uq) and the top is breathable polyester(to make sure there's no condensation) not sure how much it weighs, but its but maybe a few oz.

I would think a hammock sock would be the way to go too. The fog in those mountains with move through thick as pea soup and I just don't see a basic tarp cutting it. The sock with the breathable top and treated bottom would seem to be the way to go. I'm planning on taking one with me when I hike on the AT.
