    Advice on cinch buckles

I have found a lot on cinch buckles, but have a couple of questions based on what I have read so far:

-do you install a cinch buckle on one end or on both ends? Please elaborate on your choice.
-is the use of line and a Prusik knot primarily for Hennessy Hammocks? I am assuming that if I install one or two cinch buckles on my Speers hammock that I can just cut the webbing a foot or two from the end of the hammock and sew the buckle on. Does this sound right?

    Thanks!

    - One will work, but two is better for greater adjustability.
    - Yes.

When you say you've found a lot of cinch buckles, who makes them and where did you buy them?
Most folks install a buckle on both ends.
The use of the line and Prusik knot can be for most any hammock.
You could cut the webbing on your Speer like you mentioned. I've heard of someone doing that. Not sure how it worked out. Another option and one I have actually done with a Speer hammock is this: Untie the knot at the end of the hammock and take off the webbing loop. Now get some quality rope/line like Spyderline and attach it to the end of the hammock. Then tie onto the cinch buckle with the Prussik knot. You will then have webbing with the loops already sewn.

I meant to write that I had found a lot of posts about cinch buckles...sorry for the confusion.

    Thanks for the information.

You can cut your Speer webbing, or you can tie the prussik onto the cinch buckle, then untie the Speer webbing at the hammock whipping and replace it with Spyderline. I used a slippery double sheet bend.

From there just use the Speer webbing to go from the buckle around the tree, just like the HH set up. This way you don't have to cut any of your Speer webbing.

Excellent idea, FF. One of those "I shoulda thought of that!" moments.

I have cinch buckles on both ends. I cut the Speer straps about a foot beyond the bugnet attachment and sewed the buckles on. Using 8' to 12' straps (I have both) with a loop and caribineer it's very quick to set up and adjust.
