    Calculating TQ Footbox dimmensions

    When a TQ is laid flat, how wide should the bottom edge be so that when cinched the enclosed footbox is a circle around 15".

    Is it as simple as (15 x 2) plus a little extra = 34" ???

    This picture may explain what I am asking.

    On a related note is 15" wide enuf for a size 11 shoe?
    (I know its subjective, but I welcome any opinions)

    I assume you mean a 15" Diameter for the 'circle'.

    The length of the bottom edge will effectively be the circumference of the circle. If we know the diameter (15") then:

    Circumference = Diameter x ∏
    Circumference = 15∏
    Circumference = 47.123889" (roughly)

    So your bottom edge should be just more than 47" (not including seam allowance and all that good stuff)

    When I said "around" I meant approximately 15" in diameter, not a round circle.

    I am embarassed that I forgot about pi.

    My quilt is 45" at the foot end and is fine for my size 11.5 foot. I have a cinched end TQ.
