Differential cut

What does the differential cut in underquilts do? And what is it and how do you do it?

You are making the outside material bigger than the inside. That way there is room for the down to loft. You can also make the quilt tighter becase you shouldn't be able to compress it.

So if my baffles are 6 inches apart on the inside I like to make the baffles on the outside 7 inches.

Ok, i had an idea what the differential cut on the inner and outer shells was but wasnt sure on the baffles, thanks
